Lucinda Brand continues to dominate the field by taking her 10th win of the season in Namur.
Amandine Fouquenet had a rocket start, the French champion followed into the field by the likes of Inge van der Heijden, Brand and Aniek van Alphen. After just five minutes, Brand took the lead and immediately opened up a gap on the rest of the field.
It was the start of an impressive display by the 36-year-old Dutch rider, only briefly interrupted by a mid-race puncture that led to a crash. But that couldn’t keep her from a solo ride to her 10th win of the campaign, while Van Alphen secured her leader’s jersey with second place and Fouquenet completed the podium.
Marion Norbert Riberolle finished 13th as the first Belgian. Van Alphen remains the leader in the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup on 121 points. Brand follows in second place, just one point behind, with Leonie Bentveld third on 83 points. In the U17 category victory went to Belgium’s Laurine Demeulemeester. She finished ahead of Julia Boulton and Dutchwoman Lotte Adriaansen.
