Frenchman Aubin Sparfel took his first victory in the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Junior Cup at the Citadel of Namur. The European Junior Champion won ahead of Czech Krystof Bazant and another Frenchman, Paul Seixas.

A week before Christmas, Aubin Sparfel gave himself an early Christmas present. “It’s a physically and technically tough course, but I love it. I enjoyed it and had great legs,” Sparfel declared at the finish.

Sparfel rode in the lead of the race from start to finish and created a decisive gap on the last lap. At the finish, he was four seconds ahead of Czech Krystof Bazant and his compatriot Paul Seixas. They were followed by Italian Stefano Viezzi and a third Frenchman, Maxime Vezie. The first Belgian in Namur was Senn Bossaerts getting 14th place.

In the UCI World Cup standings, Stefano Viezzi retains the lead after three stages thanks to two wins in the previous two cyclo-cross races. Aubin Sparfel slides back to second position, ahead of Dutchman Keije Solen.
